Dog Vest & Raincoat Fit Guide
A comfortable walk starts with the right fit. Measure with your dog standing, then match those numbers to the ranges below. If you land on a line between sizes, size up.
How to measure for the vest
- Chest girth: wrap a soft tape around the widest part of the rib cage, just behind the front legs. Snug, not tight — you should be able to slide two fingers underneath. This is the measurement that matters most.
- Back length: from the base of the neck to the base of the tail, with your dog standing square.
- Neck: around the base of the neck, where the vest will sit. The vest chart does not list neck.
Vest sizes are listed in inches. The raincoat chart lists inches and centimetres.
Before you choose a size
Measure your dog while they stand naturally. Use a soft tape, write down the numbers, and check the chart for the product you want. A vest size and a raincoat size with the same letter can have different measurements.

Measure chest first, then back. Pick the size whose ranges cover your dog. If you land on a line, size up. Neck is not listed on the chart. Size swaps are available within 30 days.
Weight ranges are a starting point only. Dogs of the same weight can need different sizes. Use chest and back with the chart above.
Vest weight rows by breed
These figures come from veterinary records of adult pet dogs in the UK, not from breed standards, which describe show dogs and run lighter. They show which rows of our weight column most dogs of each breed fall in. They don't say a size fits: in our own check of owner reviews, the weight row matched the size that fit in 14 of 23 cases. Use them to narrow it down, then choose by chest and back.

Measure chest, back length and neck the same way as for the vest. Use the chest first. Between two sizes, go up one.

Garment measurements. Hand measuring can be 2–3 cm (about 1 in) off.
Check the fit when it arrives
Fasten the garment gently and let your dog stand and walk. Check for pulling around the chest or legs and make sure the closure is not under strain. Remove the garment if your dog seems uncomfortable or too warm. If the measurements do not line up with a chart row, contact us before ordering rather than choosing by weight alone.
